Shannon is probably the funniest person I know. I never laugh harder than when I'm with her. She has the best stories, equally full of wisdom and sarcasm, her personality is like the Earth. We are just moons pulled in, and so much better for it.
However, let me start with a bit of her bio...and I do mean just a bit.
" Shannon B. Mensi works in strategic communications for the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. She also leads multiple externally funded science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and workforce development projects.
She began her professional career in 2001 at the Naval Oceanographic Office, where she served first as a student writer-editor and later a full-time public affairs specialist. In 2009, she transferred to the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory as a public affairs officer. As a staffer for a member of the Senior Executive Service, she has played a valuable role in various programs and projects directly impacting current and future Naval research and technology.
Though she is routinely called on for project/program management abilities, communication experience, partnership building, mentoring, management skills and political awareness in the Defense R&D community, she is generally remembered for her quick wit and leopard print heels. "
Her accomplishments are daunting. They range from leading 90+ interns, who go on to succeed at places such as MIT, to raising over $150,000 for Toys for Tots. She far surpasses extraordinary, but her story wasn't always great. I can't wait for you to meet her this week! Be prepared to laugh and be amazed!
